SPECIFIC JOB CONTENT
Provide Basis application administration support to the Process Teams including on-going maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning and upgrade management, help manage the day to day activities from a support and maintenance perspective, and ensure that the production environment running SAP applications are stable. Develop, test and debug, and implement complex SAP operating components, software tools, and utilities required for the operation, maintenance, and control of the current and future Global SAP computer systems. Other duties include, installation of new releases and interim upgrades/fixes.
BASIC OBJECTIVE
Under general direction, designs and implements complex data bases with respect to the particular data base software product used. Install new releases and interim upgrades/fixes of data base software. Implement and use software monitors and processes to measure efficient online performance, processing workload, computer utilization, data storage growth and storage availability. Investigate inefficiencies and where possible implement changes to processes, programs, and parameters to restore effectiveness. Implement processes to assure comprehensive backups of data bases and a quick/efficient recovery method.
When working with SAP, additional technical competencies and knowledge is needed. This is because many of the data base performance software and monitoring is included in the SAP application software. The SAP application also includes some data base integrity functionality that is normally performed by the data base software independently of the application system.
There are more duties for this position related to SAP. Perform installation of new releases and interim upgrades/fixes. Perform changes to the SAP configuration, submitted by systems analysts using the SAP supplied CTS process (Change Transport System). Create and implement processes for batch interfaces such as data collection systems and other SAP systems.
The same SAP related duties are also performed for SAP add-on systems such as CRM and SCM.
Competent to work at the highest level of most phases of data base technology. Duties related to production problem resolution often require 24/7availablity. Position has wide latitude for unreviewed action in data base design and implementation.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design and implement complex data bases best suited to meet business application requirements and the technical infrastructure environment.
2. Implement and use software monitors and processes to measure efficient online performance, processing workload, computer utilization, data storage growth and storage availability. Measure against thresh-holds and targets and recommend action when needed.
3. Investigate processing inefficiencies and problems, and implement changes to processes, programs, and parameters to restore effectiveness.
4. Implement processes to assure comprehensive backups of data bases and a quick/efficient recovery method.
5. Monitors standards for data base related technology and methods for the enforcement of these standards.
6. Assists in formulation of standards and procedures relating to data base.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field preferred. Under some circumstances Associate Degree in Information Technology and minimum 5 years experience will be accepted.
2. 4 – 5 years systems and/or programming experience.
3. The ability to read, write, and speak Mandarin, French or Mexican Spanish is a strong plus.
